Will
You know how people say they have made the biggest mistake of their life. Marrying Briana might have been mine. I love her, I really do, but I don’t think I am in love with her which is coming out in our daily life together.
“Have a good night Will,” Dina, one of my co-workers said as I left the office that day.
“You too.” I made it out to the parking lot, started up my car and sat there for a second trying to figure out where exactly I wanted to go. Sometimes I would run by Shareece’s house to check on my boys and make sure all was well with them. But I did not think that would be the best idea today. It was a Friday and Shareece could very well have plans with her new little friend, Terrence.
I pulled a cigar out of my jacket pocket and lit it up. Briana did not like me smoking in the house so I had to take advantage of it when I was driving as often as I could. I puffed out the smoke and began a drive around the city. I didn’t get too far before my cell phone started ringing out. I hit the button on my earpiece.
“Hello.
“Will, when are you going to make it home.” I sighed. I swear she kept tighter tabs on me than a prison guard did a prisoner.
“Soon.”
“I need you to bring home some steaks to put on the grill for dinner.”
“Fine.” I hung up and then my phone rang again. “Hello.”
“Hey Will. How are you?”
“Good Reece. How are you?”
“I am okay. I have a favor to ask.” I could almost guess what was about to come next. Either she wanted me to watch the kids so she could go on a date or she needed money. I couldn’t be mad with either request because I was not on a child support order yet so I kind of gave her what she asked for which was not much.
“All of the boys need new sneakers. Can you take them to get new shoes sometime this week?”
“Yeah. I can do that. I will let you know when I can pick them up.”
“Thanks. Have a good weekend,” and she hung up the phone. Our calls were never long these days. I took my ear piece out of my ear and maneuvered my car towards my brother, Maurice’s house. I could just hang out over there until I was ready to head on home.
